Instagram lets anyone download a copy of their own data. Freelytic simply reads that file for you.

Why we never ask for your password
Most follower apps work by logging in as you. That's exactly what we wanted to avoid.
Your login stays yours
Giving a third-party app your Instagram password hands over full control of your account. Instagram's own security advice is not to share your password with apps you don't trust. Freelytic never needs it.
Processed in your browser
The parser runs as JavaScript on this page. Your ZIP is opened in memory on your device and never sent to a server — there is no upload endpoint to send it to.
Nothing to get flagged
Freelytic doesn't touch your account: no automated logins, no scraping, no follow or unfollow actions. Nothing it does can look like suspicious activity to Instagram.
We use privacy-friendly analytics to count things like “a file was analyzed” — never usernames or file contents. Details in our privacy policy.

Questions people ask
Is Freelytic safe to use?
Freelytic never asks for your Instagram password and never connects to your account. It reads the files you downloaded from Instagram directly in your browser; the files are not uploaded to any server.
Do I need to log in or give my Instagram password?
No. There is no Freelytic account and no Instagram login. You request your own data from Instagram's Accounts Center, then drop the file here.
Does Instagram notify people when I check who doesn't follow me back?
No. Freelytic only reads a file you already downloaded. It doesn't visit profiles, follow, unfollow or message anyone, so nobody receives a notification.
Why does it take time to get my Instagram data?
Meta prepares the download on its servers and sends you a notification and email when it's ready. If you only select “Followers and following” it's usually quick — often minutes. Full account copies with photos and videos can take much longer.
Can Freelytic show who unfollowed me?
Not from a single download. One export is a snapshot of who follows you right now, so it shows who doesn't follow you back — not who left. To see changes over time, keep an older export and compare, or join the waitlist for the upcoming iPhone app that compares snapshots automatically.
If your export includes recently_unfollowed_profiles, Freelytic shows the accounts you unfollowed.
Why don't my numbers match my Instagram profile exactly?
The export is a snapshot from when Meta created it, and it can leave out deactivated, restricted or recently changed accounts. Small differences from the live counts on your profile are normal.
Should I choose JSON or HTML when downloading?
Choose JSON. It includes exact follow dates and is the most reliable format. Freelytic also reads HTML exports if that's what you already have.
Is Freelytic really free?
Yes. The web analyzer is free with no account, limits or watermark on your results. We're building an optional iPhone app for automatic monthly comparisons; it's coming soon, and the web tool stays free.
